The Serious Bit

Hilary (Hils) manages client-side permanent & freelance roles across a number of sectors including education, retail, automotive and not-for-profit.

Before moving to Australia 2 years ago, Hils worked in B2B marketing in London for various Studios including Disney, Sony Pictures and Warner Bros. International Television.

Whilst at WB, she managed the marketing, promotions and publicity for diverse territories including Russia, Poland, Ukraine, South Africa and Central Eastern Europe.  During her 6 years she was lucky enough to work with and meet WB talent such as Simon Baker from The Mentalist, Chace Crawford from Gossip Girl and Ian Somerhalder, Paul Wesley and Nina Dobrev from The Vampire Diaries.

After 13 years of travelling back and forth from Southend to London for work, she decided to leave old Blighty for the sunny and tropical shores of Sydney to begin a life down under!

Her first role in Sydney was working for ITV Studios in the sales team where she sold ITV content to Japan and New Zealand and was lucky enough to travel there on a couple of occasions.  A natural people person, Hils was drawn to the world of recruitment & Stopgap, and loves being able to help her candidates find their dream jobs. Hils is now looking forward to the next chapter of her life here at Stopgap & in Australia, and can't wait to see where this new adventure will take her!

The Fun Bit

When I was little I wanted to be…

An actress/singer - I loved performing and being the centre of attention, this has definitely changed in my adult life but I loved that back then I had no fears or worries and just used to go for it! I think I still have my inner child hiding somewhere and occasionally she pops out!

My first ever job was…

Working at a kids indoor playground centre called 'Kids Kingdom' in Southend on Sea.  I was too young and short to actually be be in the activity area so was put to work in the kitchen.  This was great fun as we'd have a food fight at the end of the shift every saturday and I'd end up looking like a tomato ketchup monster!

The most daring thing I’ve ever done is…

Moving to Australia with no job.  I took a leap of faith and it certainly paid off.  I definitely believe in the saying 'the impossible is possible'.

In my spare time you can find me…

Behind a camera, taking shots of the beautiful landscape around Australia.

The brand I am most passionate about is…

Canon, their camera's and lens are amazing, without them I'd be lost!

Hi Hilary,

Thank you for your time today. I really appreciate the experience I had with you today. I have to say that you are the first recruiter who has ever wished me luck on an interview that they haven't organised.

Every recruiter I speak to gives me the same spiel of a personalised experience but it felt genuine with you.

I also want to mention that it is a pleasure working with you Hilary. I was dealing with other recruiters throughout this process and you are by far the loveliest, personable, fun and most helpful of them all. It makes such a difference! I’ll definitely be recommending Binvested use StopGap for any other candidates they need.
